In 1905 King Edward VII was on the throne and Russia was at war with Japan. Aston Villa won the FA Cup and Cadburys introduced the Dairy Milk bar. In the same year Herbert Tribbeck, a clockmaker from Lymington, founded Tribbeck Bros with his brother Frank in Salisbury’s Silver Street.

The Silver Street shop, now H R Tribbeck, is decorated for the coronation of King George V in June 1911. Today, the old shop is occupied by Reeves the Baker.

The business expanded, trading on its growing reputation for quality and service before moving to its present location in Bridge Street in 1935.

The business in Bridge Street is pictured here alongside buildings, now demolished, including the Shoulder of Mutton pub. The rebuilt development now houses Wagamama as our neighbour.

The shop pictured next to "Pricerite", Salisbury's first supermarket - note the sale of Pink Stamps!

The business acquired the shop next door which was utilised as a silver and clock showroom.

The shop was extensively refurbished and the old shop and showroom were combined into one larger shop.

Herbert Tribbeck, a clockmaker from Lymington, founded Tribbeck Bros in 1905 with his brother Frank in Salisbury’s Silver Street. The business moved to its present-day position in Bridge Street in the 1930s. The first shop is today occupied by Reeves The Baker.

H R Tribbeck & Son has been trading continuously in Salisbury since these early days and is now in the hands of the fourth generation of the family.

The Bridge Street shop remained relatively unchanged for much of the twentieth century although it did acquire the next-door shop in the 1980s which was used as a silverware and clock showroom.

A refurbishment in 2004 allowed the showroom and original shop to be combined to form today's modern and pleasant shop. Although the shop is now more modern in design it still trades on the same principles on which it was founded in 1905... Good value, quality goods and excellent service.
